Purveyor of Dark Fantasy Tales and Legends
Well, she's still struggling with that question herself...
Mary Jane's loving parents raised her in north-central Pennsylvania after allegedly abducting her from aliens. While completing her engineering PhD, Mary Jane fell in love with a devilishly handsome man named Zi. Three quirky daughters and a successful career later, she fell asleep and woke up in Florida. You can find her there, prowling the untamed swamps and bookstores with her trusted companion at her side.
A shy creature by nature, Mary Jane refuses to post her picture anywhere. She claims it helps build an aura of mystery, but we think she's just weird. That's okay, though; we like her stories more than we like her, anyway.
The Satyr Chronicles
The Satyr Chronicles follow Claef the Satyr and his colorful companions as they muddle through life in magical Bangoria. A beautiful yet unforgiving plain of existence, Bangoria breeds characters of unusual complexity, who are more flawed than they are perfect. If you are seeking sugary tales of idealic heroes who never die or waver from their moral foundation, we suggest searching elsewhere. Mary Jane writes in a world of continuiums and rainbows, rather than absolutes.
Each installment of The Satyr Chronicles focuses on a different chapter of the larger saga. We recommend starting at the beginning, but the books are structured to stand on their own.
A Dark Fantasy Horror Story
The peaceful Luthros Valley trembled when the Kasovich twins arrived in the night. Half-elven by birth, their exotic beauty was only exceeded by their hatred of all things pure. The ancient vampires longed to unleash their sadistic desires on the unsuspecting population and litter the countryside with mangled corpses and bloodless husks.
Charismatic to a fault, Claef the Satyr struggled to balance the demands of magic and family with a budding career. Whenever the devout bachelor thought he had his life figured out, something else happened. Then Mowen limped in, bearing the news of his sister’s violent disappearance. His mundane problems suddenly felt insignificant. Without his precious Jeca, Claef’s life held no meaning.
Ignorant of the undead forces aligned against him, Claef packed his bag and headed south. Had he realized the insatiable evil awaiting him, he might have chosen a coward’s path. Instead, he marched into the vampire’s violent world with nothing but his magic to protect him. Was he to become a reluctant hero, or was he just another corpse walking?
A Dark Fantasy Tale of Man's Inhumanity
If you seek a safe, adventure-free life, don’t marry a satyr…
Magical Bangoria has forever been a harsh, unforgiving world, but when demons, dark elves and hags unite, no one is safe from the storm. Such times are when the righteous must pull their heads from the sand and rise, no matter the cost.
Soon after Alfie marries Claef the Satyr in sleepy Riverside, one man’s inhumanity shatters her peaceful existence. Helpless to resist, fate’s whimsical hand drives the newlyweds into the seedy underbelly of a Bangoria the naïve miller’s daughter thought existed only in nightmares.
The horrors the newlyweds and their colorful companions face are deeply personal, threatening their souls as well as their lives. Yet their actions will determine the fates of countless innocents. While the sun would continue to rise if they fail, it would shine on a colder, less worthy world.
Can Alfie and Claef adapt to combat the unspeakable evil without surrendering their own humanity in the process?
Embrace your righteous indignation and walk beside Alfie and Claef, if you dare…
